After living in MD, NC, and UT, I found my happy place in Charleston, SC just 5 minutes from the beach.
I live and breathe nonprofit work and couldn't imagine doing anything else. I'm currently the senior grant writer for a national animal welfare organization, but I've worked locally, as well as in other development areas and in program management.
I obtained my Bachelors in Business Administration w/ a Finance concentration in 2006, and then my Masters in Human Services (Community & Social Programs) in 2012. I partake in as many professional development opportunities that I can find, including college certificate courses, webinars, live trainings, conferences, etc. I believe I can always learn from others, regardless of their position or level of their current journey.
I have authored articles for GPA's national newsletter, Best Friends Animal Society and Charleston Animal Society's magazines. I've presented on the topic of pit bulls and BSL to volunteers, interns, and workshop participants. I've presented in webinars, live workshops, and developed a published case statement. Provided free grant workshops all across the state of South Carolina for animal welfare groups.
I serve on the Executive Committee of the SC GPA Chapter, I volunteer locally, and am also on the fundraising board of a character restoration program for a correctional institution.
In my personal time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and dogs, and our extended family and friends. If it's warm out and it's water related, you can count me in! I also enjoy kayaking, cooking (plant-based foods), gardening, reading, volunteering, fundraising challenges, and participating in new learning opportunities.
