Bio

I am a Wisconsin native, born and raised in rural Sturgeon Bay. I fled the country my senior year of high school and spent a year in Brasil as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student. Upon my return, I attended UW-Madison and received a BA in International Relations, Latin American Studies, and Portuguese. During my time at Madison, I spent a semester studying at the Universidad Catolica in Santiago, Chile. Upon graduation, I packed up my few meager possessions and headed to Corvallis, Oregon where I enjoyed the active, outdoor lifestyle, gained an introduction to the working work, and eventually received an MS in Forest Resources with an emphasis on Natural Resouce Social Science.

In 2001 I returned to Wisconsin, settling in Platteville after a brief, one-year detour to Mount Vernon, Iowa. Since returning to Wisconsin, I have worked for the Dubuque Metropolitan Solid Waste Agency and Southwest Badger Resource Conservation and Development (RC&D) Council. I currently split my working hours between grant writing and part-time work at The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museum in Platteville, Wisconsin. I am on the board of the PHS Scholarship Fund and Inspiring Community, Inc. and serve as the Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Southwest Wisconsin/Platteville.

I am married to Kristopher Wright, biology professor extraordinaire, and have two adventurous, curious, and mostly wonderful boys. When I'm not scrambling to meet a deadline I enjoy riding my bike on the rural roads of Southwest Wisconsin, baking crusty sourdough bread, and creating beautiful things with yarn and two sticks.
